Barker is a thriving and busy school and in 2022 we celebrated the fact that we are now coeducational from Pre-K to Year 12.

We also have five satellite campuses:

  • An Indigenous Darkinjung Barker Campus in Yarramalong, NSW (established 2016)

Design & Technology Teacher

Barker College is currently seeking an experienced Design & Technology Teacher based at our Hornsby campus.

This will be a permanent full-time role commencing 1 January 2026 (New Staff Orientation is 22 January 2026). 

Qualified to teach Stage 4 Technology and two or more Stage 5 subjects: Design and Technology, Industrial, Food, or Textiles. Stage 6 experience is beneficial but not required.

This will be a permanent full-time (1.0FTE) role commencing 1 January 2026.

Senior Philanthropy Manager

Barker College is currently seeking a Senior Philanthropy Manager based at our Hornsby campus.

This will be a Full-Time (1.0FTE) position.

With three Indigenous campuses on the NSW Central Coast and North East Arnhem Land, together with a special assistance school on the main Barker College campus in Sydney for children and young people of refugee experience, Barker College sets itself apart as a school that deliberately and intentionally allows people to thrive in a holistic sense, offering a culture of inclusivity, innovation and global hope. 

Barker College relies on its community of donors and volunteers to support the ongoing growth and sustainability of its vision and programs. We now seek a new Senior Philanthropy Manager who will develop and implement strategies that increase philanthropic support for the School. A key member of the Advancement and Communications team, this role is responsible for managing all aspects of the School's fundraising efforts, including donor engagement, major gifts, annual giving and planned giving.

Secondary School Teaching Internship

As part of our People & Culture Strategy, Barker College aims to attract, engage and inspire high quality educators in the teaching profession. 
 
We are delighted to be offering Internships for Teacher Education Students at our Secondary School on Sydney’s North Shore in Hornsby. The Internship Program at Barker is designed to provide access to classroom experience, development of subject knowledge and skills, and to assist with the teaching and learning in their subject area. Internship applications are open to all subject areas, though expressions of interest in the following subjects are desired:
 
•    Design and Technology
•    Science
•    English
 
Interns will be offered paid casual employment of up to 1 – 2 days per week, nominating their availability to fit around their university studies and will have access to professional development, internal teacher coaching and onsite facilities such as Health Centre, Counselling, World Class Fitness and Gym Facilities, complimentary lunch.
