HSC French Extension
1 Unit of study for the Higher School Certificate.
Pre/Co-requisites: French Continuers
Course Description
Students will further develop skills in, and knowledge of French and an awareness of French-speaking communities through the study of a range of texts. The prescribed text and issues derived from the prescribed text, will be changed every 3 years.
Main Topics Covered
There is one prescribed theme -
• The individual and contemporary society.

▪ Dealing with disability
● Resilience - For example;

1 Unit of study for the Higher School Certificate.
Pre/Co-requisites: Chinese Continuers
Course Description
Students will further develop skills in, and knowledge of Chinese and an awareness of Chinese-speaking communities through the study of a range of texts. The prescribed text and issues derived from the prescribed text will be changed every 3 years.

Course Description
Students will further develop skills in, and knowledge of Japanese and an awareness of Japanese-speaking communities through the study of a range of texts. The prescribed theme provides the focus for the selection of texts. The prescribed text and issues derived from the prescribed text, will be changed every 3 years.

HSC Latin Extension
1 Unit of study for the Higher School Certificate.
Pre/Co-requisites: Latin Continuers
Course Description
Through the study of text in the original Latin, students will develop skills in translating and analysing text. Students will develop knowledge and understanding of Latin of a particular period and genre. Students will develop an appreciation of the linguistic, literary and cultural features of the text.
Main Topics Covered
In the Extension Course a specific genre of Latin literature (Lyric, Satire, Elegy or Historiography) will be studied. Texts by two or three authors exemplifying the specified genre will be prescribed for study.
