Scarred for Life
Through the digital images which I have created, I aim to visualise the suppression of the female body and the way in which it becomes imprinted on the female gender.
As I have grown I have felt an overwhelming pain in seeing the representation of female bodies (when represented) for men’s viewing purposes. These often-airbrushed images of female bodies do not accurately represent the stretchmarks, blemishes, curves, dimples and marks and other imperfections that make us ‘us’.
In an attempt to create something real I have done my best to represent women in a light that is truthful and untouched. I have been influenced by English artist Jenny Saville.
