Philip Szczerba

My triptych painting aims to represent the dramatic impact of the 2019 to 2020 Australian bushfires on our natural environment and my aspirations of hope.

My paintings start with native Australian plants scattered around the forest to create a moment of life and growth and a perhaps closer connection for my audience to this landscape. They then lead into the devastation caused by these fires through symbolism and then end with the last painting, after the fires, to show a symbol of hope and perhaps rebirth. Influential artists include Russel Drysdale and Sydney Nolan.
