Blear People

Sculpture

Oscar Whymper-Williams

My abstracted sculptures examine the inherent shape found in people.

I wanted to deconstruct the human form until I could create reduced silhouettes that were still recognisably human and were on some level emotive. I chose to apply a graphite surface treatment to my carved plaster sculptures as it reveals shape in the works that would be otherwise lost with a matte finish. Artists that influenced me include Henry Moore and Margel Hinder.
