Collection of Works

The rising acceptance of the LGBT+ community in recent decades has had a profound impact on the confidence and self-value of its people, inspiring pride and ownership of identity and self-expression.

Using the symbology of drag, I wanted to express the unashamed, creative self-expression of the LGBT+ community and the authenticity that it promotes. In my Body of Work, the male form, represented with raw black lines, has been adorned with various materials such as feathers, fabrics, and glitter to represent the wigs, dresses and makeup that drag queens decorate themselves with. My Body of Work aims to capture this identification of expression as a way to promote the importance of unashamed identity.
