Fading Memories

Photomedia

My photographs depict feelings of nostalgia and explore the idea that memories fade and change throughout time.

Inspired by aspects of Max Dupain’s iconic Australian photography, I used a film camera with a makeshift pinhole camera lens, constructed from tape and aluminium to photograph moments of Sydney’s coastal and beach scenes. I aimed to capture classic beach experiences that my audience can relate to. The use of a film camera with a pinhole lens created blurred black and white images that particularly captured  light and mirrored faded summer memories.
