A Common Thread
Through my digital line drawings, I have displayed the close relation people have in our modern world. This has been highlighted by the recent outbreak and fast spread of the corona virus.
This pandemic has made me realise the close connection individuals have in our world without realising. This is symbolised through the continuous line though my portraits, foreshadowing the common thread that each subject has with each other in real life as each subject is mutually connected in some way.
My drawings are intended to confront the fact that this virus is inescapable, through the symbolism of a red virus contrasting my monochromatic drawings. Additionally, I aimed to convey our reaction to the pandemic through emotion, my drawings represent a melancholy tone as there is minimum colour and symbols of the subjects crying. My artwork deals with a modern world issue that effects every person in our society.
