Complexities of Family

Sculpture

My body of work consists of simplified wooden line sculptures.

I have taken images from different phases of life from birth and focused on the relationship with parent and child and the dependency children’s growth has on their upbringing and how this shapes our identity. I have simplified the images I am creating in a way that explores the struggle of stability and identity. Symbolic of the tree of life, I have used a wooden medium to explore the dependency of children to their parents and the way that shapes identity, through the fragile nature of both the relationship and the physical sculptures themselves.
