Collection of Works
Beyond Fragmentation is a collection of works celebrating the feminine form in all her beauty. Throughout history, the ideals of beauty and femininity have primarily been a male construction.
As a result, the female form has become fractured and altered. Women are often represented as faceless, emotionless or alluring. They are also depicted with exaggerated or fractured physiques that align with historical views of women as fertile, nurturing or naïve objects. It draws influence from the sculptors of Ancient Greece, Henri Matisse, Jenny Saville, Tanya Wolf Ragir, Tahlia Stanton and exhibits a vibrant colour palette.
This collection attempts to subvert this objectification and embraces the inner and outer beauty of femininity: passion, strength, intelligence, resilience, gentleness, and even rage.
