Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

Drawing

Andrew Mance

My body of work Here Today, Gone Tomorrow subtly comments on the displacement of native Australian birds from their natural habitats due to the expansion of suburban infrastructure.

I aim to highlight this issue through a compositional ‘dematerialisation’ of the native wattlebird in the central image. The surrounding images aim to highlight their visual complexity and beauty. Through drawing in extreme detail, I intend to capture their beauty and encourage the audience to cherish and protect these national treasures.
