“Music brings the tribes of Africa together.”

A famous quote from Bryce Courtney’s ‘Power of One’, but now viewed as an annual gift from Barker's students to the many tribes residing in Africa’s biggest slum.

Through Bernie Kelly’s Global Immersion, 72 Barker students have joined their peers from the Kibera slum in Nairobi, to send a message of hope and peace through music to the rest of the world. Their re-make of the 1985 classic ‘We are the World’ with slum residents in July this year illustrates how our students are spending their holidays making a global impact on the other side of the world.

Another African adventure will depart on December 5 and places are still available for students keen to embrace this life changing experience, which also includes climbing of the world’s highest free-standing mountain – Kilimanjaro and the coaching of an Athletics carnival to four Tanzanian Primary schools at the base of the great mountain.
