Surveillance is big business in today’s world. The growth of the ‘Internet of Things’ through web connectivity has enabled devices to feed back valuable data, reduce human effort, improve safety and reduce costs.
Initial surveillance of on-site issues cannot always warrant the use of expensive methods, such as helicopters or vehicles. Drones provide a means of inspecting situations that might require emergency services or media coverage. Eddy has developed a pod style prototype, which can facilitate a tandem set of remote controlled drones using contactless charging. An example scenario is that a pod could be placed along a freeway corridor on elevated poles and be used for initial surveillance of emergency situations.
