Support and assistance is available for all Barker students through the Careers and Counselling services. 

Careers and Counselling Centre

The School Counsellors and Careers Adviser are located in our dedicated Careers & Counselling Centre. Advice and resources are available to students and parents in the Centre at any time during the school day. Post Year 12 support is also available from both the Counsellors and the Careers Adviser. Students and parents are welcome to contact the Careers & Counselling Centre any school day on 9847 8365.

Careers

The Careers Adviser is available for appointments every school day. Careers services provided include:

  • Individual interviews for Senior School students to receive guidance on matters such as subject selection and post-school options. Parents are welcome to attend.
  • Pastoral Care & Social Education (PC & SE) Careers Education Program
  • Online Careers Profile testing
  • Networking opportunities through Old Barker Association (OBA) joint ventures e.g. OBA Beyond Barker Breakfasts
  • Compulsory one week Work Experience Program for Year 10 students
  • Lunchtime presentations from Universities and other tertiary private providers
  • The annual Tertiary Courses Evening
    Resume Writing and Interview Preparation
  • Advice for students and parents regarding HSC, ATAR, Universities and Scholarships
  • Assistance with applications to overseas Colleges and Universities
Counsellors

Barker has a team of Counsellors for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. They are Registered Psychologists and provide services such as:

  • Individual counselling
  • Group programs
  • Psycho-educational assessments
  • Liaison and case management
  • Referrals to external professionals and agencies
  • Incident management
