Phillip Heath in Conversation with Rosalie Kunoth-Monks OAM
Rosalie Kunoth-Monks, is an Anmatjere woman who was born in 1937 at Utopia Cattle Station in Central Australia. At the age of 14 she starred in the iconic Australia film Jedda, making her the first Indigenous woman to play the lead role in a film. With experience in many careers, she is an advocate for better housing, medical care and education for Indigenous Australians, and a tireless anti-racism campaigner. Rosalie has been the recipient of the Dr Mandawuy Yunupingu Human Rights Award, was the 2015 Northern Territorian of the Year and the 2015 NAIDOC Person of the Year. She was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 1993.
