Course Description

In HSC English Extension 1, students explore ideas about literary texts and the worlds created by them, including their value and how cultural values and systems of valuation arise and operate. English Extension 1 is designed for students undertaking English Advanced who choose to study at a more intensive level in diverse, but specific areas. They enjoy engaging with complex levels of conceptualisation and seek the opportunity to work in increasingly independent ways.

For HSC English Extension 2, students must undertake the Extension 1 course to be eligible for the Extension 2 course. Students develop a sustained composition and document their reflection on this process.

Main Topics Covered

HSC English Extension 1 has two modules. - Literary Worls and Reimagined Worlds.

HSC English Extension 2 requires students to complete a Major Work, compile a detailed Journal and compose a Reflection Statement.
